My A.P. Art students spent some weeks looking at the Chicago Housing Authority rebuilding plan, called the Plan for Transformation, in which most low-income high-rises are torn-down, eventually and ideally to be replaced by lower-capacity mixed-income low-rise developments. We created drawings of torn-down high-rises and drew plans for desirable living spaces, and had visitors from officials, journalists, scholars and activists acquainted with many aspects of the Plan. There was a show at the gallery Mess Hall following the project.
