My students and I had compelling, open-ended discussions about the complex legacy of Michael Jackson, who many (rightly) recognize as perhaps the most influential figure in male R&B in the last thirty years. His sullied image, and his potential to be viewed as a transgendered or queer figure, added a great deal of depth to the discussion and the project.
